Over/Under: Saint Peter and Saint Paul Islets
by Andre Seale, 2008
A photographic journey to the remote oceanic destination of Saint Peter and Saint Paul Islets, 600 miles off the Brazilian coast. All text and captions are in English and Portuguese. The 108 stunning photographs make this book the first of its kind for this location. This book is the first of the "Over/Under" series, which depict remote and exotic destinations around the world with topside, split level and underwater photography subdivided in three main sections.
"Saint Peter and Saint Paul Islets lie in the middle of the Atlantic 1,010 Km from the coast of Brazil, rising 4,000m from the seafloor. Its geological and biological uniqueness still captivate and challenge scientists, as it did during Charles Darwin's visit aboard the Beagle in 1832. Schooling fish, mobula rays and sea birds travel long distances to find shelter in this remote oceanic outpost. Swells pound relentlessly on the bare rock, limiting and shaping life. New species and morphotypes evolve within the limiting conditions, giving life out there a beautiful, dynamic and unique character. Award-winning photographer and marine biologist Dr. Andre Seale invites you to admire and ponder over a little bit of the beauty and uniqueness of life over and under ASPSP."
Over/Under: Fernando de Noronha
by Andre Seale, 2008
A photographic journey to the mecca of Brazilian diving, Fernando de Noronha, an offshore volcanic archipelago 200 miles off the Brazilian coast. All text and captions are in English and Portuguese. The 124 stunning photographs make this book the first of its kind for this location. This book is the second of the "Over/Under" series, which depict remote and exotic dive destinations around the world with topside, split level and underwater photography subdivided in three main sections.
"Fernando de Noronha has become the quintessential national marine park and offshore diving destination in Brazil over the last two decades. Home of spinner dolphin pods and nesting ground of sea turtles, these islands of volcanic origin also offer stunning landscape and rocky formations. Flounders and stingrays camouflage under the sand or peacefully glide over the bottom. Underwater visibility can reach 40 m and diving within the protected park limits is rewarded by the vivid colors of sponge-encrusted walls and over 200 species of fish. Award-winning photographer and marine biologist Dr. Andre Seale invites you to enjoy the natural beauty and exuberance of Fernando de Noronha in three different levels: over, over-under and underwater."
Over/Under: Bonito
by Andre Seale, 2008
A photographic journey to Bonito, Brazil's most pristine freshwater spring environment surrounded by lush forest and high biodiversity. Award-winning photographer and marine biologist André Seale presents 110 stunning photographs captioned in English and Portuguese in a first of its kind book for this ecotourism paradise. This book is the third of the "Over/Under" series, which depict remote and exotic dive destinations around the world with topside, split level and underwater photography subdivided in three main sections.
"Bonito is a small town just south of Pantanal, the largest wetland ecosystem in the planet, and known for its crystal clear freshwater springs and impressive biodiversity. As one of the most important ecotourism destinations in Brazil, its rivers, waterfalls and caves are surrounded by dense green jungles and patches of the endangered cerrado teaming with wildlife. Schools of hundreds of piraputangas and dorados gently swim up the clear streams while toucans and monkeys quietly observe from the canopy of the trees. The 40 m plus visibility blends spectacular tones of green, yellow and blue underwater, in a kaleidoscope of plants, fish and transparent water. In this book, biologist and wildlife photographer Andre Seale brings out some of the vibrant tones and exquisite interface compositions found only in the unique waters around Bonito."
