Chuuk, along with Kosrae, Pohnpei and Yap, comprises one of the four states of the Federated States of Micronesia. Amongst divers it is best known for its sunken fleet of Japanese world war II ships at Truk lagoon. Amongst the 32 ships taken by operation Hailstone in 1944, the Fujikawa Maru is famous for still holding a few intact zero planes and weapons, and the Shinkoku Maru is best remembered by the abundance of soft corals growing on the deck.
